Delaware Park Casino recently marked a major milestone by celebrating three decades of slot machines at the historic Wilmington venue. The facility, which first opened as a racetrack in 1937, expanded its entertainment offerings in 1995 when the first video lottery terminals were introduced to the property. This transition turned the racetrack into a premier regional gaming destination.
The 30th anniversary celebration concluded with a significant giveaway that awarded a local player one million dollars in slot dollars on December 27, 2025. This prize was the culmination of a two month long promotional period during November and December where guests earned entries by using player cards at various slot machines and table games. In addition to the grand prize winner, thirteen other finalists received individual prizes of three thousand slot dollars.
The anniversary event coincided with a New Year’s Eve party themed after the year 1995 to honor the era when slot machines were first legalized at the site. This celebration follows a period of extensive growth for the casino. In early 2024, the property completed a ten million dollar renovation project that modernized the gaming floor and introduced more than 1,500 new slot machines and titles.
Enhancements to the facility included the creation of a dedicated high limit slot room and a specialized lounge featuring titles from leading game producers. The renovation also saw the introduction of pod style seating designed to maximize player comfort. These updates were accompanied by the transition to 24 hour operations for the main slot floor, allowing guests access to gaming at any time.
The casino has also expanded its footprint with the opening of a large outdoor gaming patio, which is currently the largest of its kind in the state. This space allows for outdoor play in a smoking friendly environment while the indoor casino remains smoke free.
Today, Delaware Park Casino houses approximately 1,900 slot machines across its two levels. The gaming floor includes a mix of classic themes and modern link games. Despite increased competition from neighboring states, the facility continues to invest in its slot product to maintain its standing in the regional market.
